Self Talk, and how NLP helps. If you tell yourself you can, then you can, if you tell yourself that you can’t, then you can’t.

The world is full of a lot of stress and frustration as circumstances keep changing on a constant basis. As I tell my clients, you have no control over other people, you have no control over outside events, but you do have control over yourself and your responses.

I was able to go out to dinner last evening, in a nice restaurant, with two cousins who, just like my partner and I, had received their 2nd vaccine several weeks ago. My cousin began talking about how many people she knows that are using drugs or alcohol and how we need to create more programs that will deal with the addicts. When I stated that we need to create more programs that deal with the reason that people use the addictive substances. and show people other, more positive coping mechanisms, such as Mindfulness, and Awareness, my cousin was still in the older way of thinking where it is the full responsibility of of the addictive substances, and not the full responsibility of the addicts responses and emotions initially created as a response to trauma or stress.

Our brains are one of the most powerful computer type systems every developed. Our brains are programmed, from time we are in the womb, up to the time of our teenage years, with ideas, messages, and images, that we have received from the adults and care givers in our lives, our parents, older siblings, television, movies, social media, school, teachers, and other children. We are ingrained with images and messages about how we are suppose to act, how we are suppose to fit in.

What we are not taught is how to be the observer, the master, the controller of our thoughts and images. One of the most powerful ways of becoming the observer of our, almost unconscious, self talk is  through tools like Hypnosis and NLP.

Be honest with yourself, how do you talk to yourself. Do give your self credit for your accomplishments? Do you tell yourself what a loving and caring person you are? Do you use your self talk to remind yourself about what you are grateful for in your life?  Or do you constantly chide yourself, tell yourself over and over again about the mistakes you made, and call yourself names like dummy, and failure? When you use this type of self talk, you are actually increasing the amount of cortisol and adrenaline in your system, These two neurochemicals cause the body to go into a self protection mode, they help prepare us to defend ourselves with a Fight, Flight, or Freeze response. Learning the skill and techniques of NLP can change that response. You will start flooding your body with positive neuro-chemicals such as dopamine, norepinephrine, or serotonin. When your body is filled with these neuro-chemicals your responses change from Self Defensive, to Positive / Calming responses, that help clean the body of pain and inflammation.
